What happens outside of my voiceover studio

I'm a voice-over artist, but only when I'm working

That is a picture of my dog, Kiyoshi; A Shiba Inu. He joins me on my daily morning "meditation walk." We don't care if it's raining or snowing, we are out there every morning, because we need to be. You see, we both spend the majority of our day indoors, so without getting out we risk not being at peace from being enclosed for several hours at a time.

This morning, when we arrived at the dog run, we encountered about seven or eight dogs. This was a surprise, as this local run is rarely used because everyone in the neighborhood seems to think that their backyard is enough.

As we approached the gate, a lady comes running out of her minivan, screaming hysterically, "Wait! Wait! No! Don't go in there! There could be trouble!" I said, calmly, "No there won't." She replied, "These are my clients' dogs and this one in particular can cause trouble. I'm a dog trainer." Kiyoshi was bored by now and so he sat down patiently as I discussed the situation with this lady.

I said, "Look, don't bring that energy here. You seem very nervous. I'll wait here for a minute." She retreated to her vehicle, "It's cold out here. I'll be in the car." I stood there patiently observing the dogs. Eventually, I simply opened the gate on the smaller section - where there were only two dogs - and walked in. The absentee dog trainer returned and asked, "Oh, you put your dog in there?" I replied, "Yes." To which she replied, "That one there could go after your dog." I reassured her, "Not while I'm in here." She returned, once again, to the warmth of her vehicle, but not before I told her, "You know, you must not be a very good dog trainer with that attitude." She was finally silent.

Of course, nothing happened other than the usual, natural dog activities. I didn't expect anything more than simply just that - dogs doing what dogs do.

If I encounter that situation again, I will introduce myself, "Hi. I'm Anthony Mendez and I'm a voiceover artist." I probably won't have to do anything to be a voiceover at the dog park. But if she happens to be at a voice-over studio, you had better believe she will see me be one rather than just claim I'm one.
